Q & A with Mamma Z: When did you start illustrating children's books?

"Mamma Z" gets asked this question quite often so she decided to make a video showing her response!
Her very good friend, Sean Kollman, asked her to be a part of something that unbeknownst to her, would be the start of her life calling. To help put an end to bullying. Sean's story was about his own life growing up with bullies. It took a special friend to help him build his confidence and overcome his bullies without resorting to violence. He wanted to let kids out there know that if you have confidence, you can do anything. Go... find your inner shark!

"I am thankful every day for Sean asking me to illustrate Timmy the Fish because not only am I doing what I love, but I finally found what I was meant to do with my life." ~ Alicia (Mamma Z)

Choose Your Words Wisely DEMO!

In this episode, Mamma Z shows the viewers at home her Choose Your Words Wisely demonstration used in her anti-bullying classroom presentations.
This visual demonstration shows children the effects of bad words said to others and once it's been said, it cannot be taken back. Many people don't think before they speak and their words can mean life or death to someone struggling. So choose your words wisely and help lift someone up!

Our goal is to show children words DO hurt. We all must choose our words wisely because we don't know what other people are going through. We are all in this together so let's spread kindness to others and keep lifting each other up!

Get Through High School!

A special message from Mamma Z to young people struggling out there... please keep going. Keep being yourself and don't let the words of others define you.

I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Did you know bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims? (according to studies by Yale University)

Suicide is the 2nd ranking cause of death for individuals 15-24 years of age – homicides ranked 3rd. (Drapeau & McIntosh, 2015)

Peer victimization in children and adolescents is associated with higher rates of suicidal ideation and suicide attempts. (JAMA Pediatrics, 2014)

Call National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255

Please don't end your life over people who don't count.

Introduction to Mamma Z &

Choose Your Words Wisely

Here, she starts the anti-bully discussion and adds a demonstration featuring her little friend, Eggert! This activity explains how we need to choose our words wisely because you can't take it back once it's said. It also shows how words can hurt someone on the inside.

Anti-Bully Pledge Poster

The next activity is the Anti-Bully Pledge with the Zombie Squirts! Here we fill in the zombie outline with positive words that we can say to other people to help lift them up. Then all the children sign the poster to make their pledge and hang it up for all to see! If time allows, the kids make their own NO BULLY posters to hang for their schools!

Of course there's goodie take-home bags for the children containing coloring sheets, stickers, bookmarks and erasers! Not to mention a 20% off coupon for books at our online store! ;) http://www.zombiesquirts.com/zombie-s...
